A new simplified mathematical model for a switched reluctance motor in a variable speed pumping application

چکیده
A new simplified mathematical model for a switched reluctance motor (SRM) driving a centrifugal pump was developed and experimentally validated. The simplified mathematical model was suitable to simulate the performance of the SRM–pump system and to design its controller. The new simplified model was determined based on the assumption that the SRM phase inductance profiles have triangular waveforms with peak values that depend on the current through the windings when magnetic saturation occurs. A SRM inverter with a single high-side IGBT and a low-side IGBT per phase was designed and constructed for a threephase 6/4 SRM. The speed control strategy consisted of two simultaneous actions: voltage pulse width modulation (PWM) and adjustment of firing angles as a function of the desired motor speed. Simulations of the speed response of the SRM–pump system were performed using the new simplified mathematical model and the results were experimentally validated. It was concluded that the new approach to model and simulate a SRM–pump system provides a practical tool suitable for system simulation and control design. 2004 Elsevier Ltd. Fuzzy Logic Control of a Switched Reluctance Motor
Because of extreme local saturation at pole tips of excited phase and uncircular shape of rotor and stator, a Swithed Reluctance Motor (SRM) does not have a simple and accurate mathematical model. Therefore, the output control of this motor requires a robust controller which is not based on an accurate model of the process. Fuzzy controllers, to some extent, will satisfy these requirements. متن کاملA New Doubly Segmented Structure for Switched Reluctance Motors with High Torque Capability
In this paper, a new magnetic structure for switched reluctance motors is presented. In this structure, both stator and rotor has a segmented topology and there is no magnetic flux path between two stator/rotor segments or any possible combination of them. The proposed segmental structure may be considered with different number of phases as well as different number of segments per phase for any...
متن کاملAutomatic Phase Advancing in Switched Reluctance Motor by Employing an Electronic Governor for a Desired Speed Angle Profile
Switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive has remarkable characteristics that make it attractive for high-speed applications. As the motor's speed increases the shape of the current waveform changes in such way that limits the production of motoring torque. At high speeds, it is possible for the phase current never reaches the desired value due to the self e.m.f. of the motor, therefore, the torque...

In the presented paper, a sensorless driver circuit is designed, constructed and tested to control two types of three-phase Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM). The presented control algorithm has three steps. In the first step, the SRM is controlled by an open-loop method. In the second step, mathematical model of the SRM phase, motor parameters and flux-current-rotor position relation are used in...
